Question: Nickel Allergy Questions

One in a million people in the world is allergic to metal, with nickel being the most common allergen.  Electronic devices are covered with plating, and nickel is the most common type of coating. Products that are in direct contact with the body can cause an allergic reaction when the body comes into contact with nickel ions. The most effective method for dealing with allergies is to isolate the allergen.

To address the issue of nickel allergy, HYP has explored various options and has found a plating solution that does not use nickel. Instead of electroplating with nickel, copper-tin-zinc alloy (also known as white bronze-tin) is used, which has similar properties and costs, but does not release nickel.

Copper-tin-zinc ternary alloy refers to an electroplating technology that covers "copper-tin-zinc ternary alloy". The "ternary alloy" refers to an alloy of copper, tin, and zinc, with copper accounting for 55%, tin accounting for 25-30%, and zinc accounting for 15-20%. The appearance of the "ternary alloy" is similar to that of stainless steel. Because it does not contain nickel elements, it does not release nickel ions, which can affect human health, making it an excellent alternative to nickel.
